Emily and Steve – New Orleans Wedding – Race and Religious
Emily and Steve were married at Race and Religious in New Orleans, LA earlier this month. This was an absolutely gorgeous wedding to get to photograph, there were so many little details I couldn’t even fit all of them into the handful of photos I’ve put below, but the little details paled in comparison to the love and laughter brought to this wedding by the bride and groom and their friends and family. Each guest took a handkerchief at the beginning of the ceremony, and in true New Olreans fashion used those to wave and dance with as they joined the couple in a second line parade right after the ceremony – complete with a band leading the way! Emily wore a stunning lace dress with a gold belt and gold jewelry, while Steve looked fantastic in his navy blue suit (and really spectacular tie!). The white roses in copper colored vases looked very lovely against the blue and white table linens, and the papel picado banners were a great compliment to the string lights hung around the venue. The cake room was just beautiful (as were all the rooms in this historic venue), with photos of the couple strung behind the three cakes, and the main cake set upon an intricate silver cake stand, and decorated with a cute flag banner.
When the time came for the toasts, there was no short supply of laughter and tears, and when it came time to get dancing, there were lots of happy feet on the dance floor. At the end of the night we were able to sneak a couple of photos in front of the vibrant blue water of the pool, right as guests began to wade into the waters.
I think the pictures tell the story a bit better than I can, I am so very lucky to have gotten the chance to photograph this wedding, I know these two have many many happy years ahead of them.

I am so excited to announce that the wedding of Emily and Tyler from this August has been featured on theKnot.com in the real weddings section!
This was an absolutely wonderful wedding to photograph, and made beautiful by the work of talented vendors such as Your Perfect Bridesmaid, Le Cookie Monkey, Snapdragon Studio, Pearl Catering, the wonderful venue Urban Studio, and of course, the very lovely couple, Emily and Tyler.

Lindsay and Keith – Wedding at the Lodge at Mountain Park – Lake Oswego, Oregon Wedding
Lindsay and Keith were married on a foggy winter evening last week at the Lodge at Mountain Park. The chandelier that they hung from the wedding arbor was a perfect compliment to the candles and strings of lights around the venue and created a beautiful and romantic feel to the room where they were married. Lindsay had a really lovely hand-made fabric bouquet (as did all of her bridesmaids), and each centerpiece carried on that vintage feel (I really loved the use of older books for centerpieces). The dessert table was really hard to resist and the white fondant cake looked amazing in front of the fireplace. The newly-married couple made their exit at the end of the evening under the dim light of many many sparklers held by friends and family. It was a beautiful wedding and I was so lucky to be there.
Ellilea and Rick – Lake Oswego Wedding – LDS Temple and Tumwater Room
I met Ellilea and Rick right after their ceremony at the LDS temple in Lake Oswego to take some wedding portraits. Although it was a bit foggy that morning, we managed to get some great wide shots that showed the beautiful (and very tall!) structure behind them as they stood in front of the reflecting pool outside the temple. I loved how beautiful Ellilea’s hair looked against the marble of the building, and compared with the white and cream colors of her wedding dress and decor. After photos, I followed them to the Tumwater Room in Oregon City for a ring ceremony in front of lots of their friends and family. Since it was December, there were many beautiful Christmas trees up at the venue, the dark greens in those trees looked really lovely with the gold and white centerpieces. It was such a joy to be a part of their wedding day, some of my favorites are below.
Marissa and Ben – Hood River Wedding – Crag Rats Hut
As I was enjoying the lovely clear sky this afternoon and was reminded of the absolutely gorgeous day that Marissa and Ben got married, I realized that I never posted photos from their wedding in Hood River this June. Â They were married on one of those unusually hot June days (I think the temperature got close to 100 degrees), but luckily the wedding took place at the Crag Rats Hut in Hood River, and the ground floor of the venue stayed nice and cool all day, plus the outdoor space was full of trees and provided them with some shade to help escape the heat. Â Â The ceremony took place outside with a perfect view of Mt. Hood in the background, and during the reception guests were able to enjoy the wonderful weather with some lawn games, or wander around the property and take in the views of all the orchards nearby. Â I really loved Marissa’s dress, and her lavender bouquet was just beautiful. Â When I saw their dessert was a bit jealous that I hadn’t thought of having a giant pie at my own wedding (and it was very tasty!) . I loved getting to work with this pair and their friends and family!
Wendy and Skylar – Lincoln City Oregon Beach Wedding
Wendy and Skylar were married this March on the beach in Lincoln City, and I’m just finally blogging it. I have to admit, when they first told me they were planning a sunset beach wedding that early in the year (in Oregon!) I figured we’d be dealing with rain, but when I arrived in Lincoln City that weekend, we were so lucky to experience unseasonably great weather, and, although it was a bit windy, the skies were sunny and clear on their wedding day. The ceremony took place on the beach, but the reception was held at the beautiful rental home Gables by the Sea.  I loved that Wendy had her bridesmaids dress in their choice of dress or skirt, and just kept them to the same purple, grey, and sea foam green color palate. Most of the food and decor was put together by a friend of the bride and groom (a VERY impressive feat), and some of the bridesmaids helped assemble the bouquets of beautiful cream roses with purple flower accents. I really liked the starfish cake topper, and the brown sugar that was used as a garnish on the cake plates to mimic sand. Wendy made a great choice in wearing a satin pair of cream Toms shoes for the wedding (much easier to walk on the beach in than heels), and the bridesmaids all wore Toms as well in their choice of colors. The evening moved on to some dancing (you’ll see an impressive toe touch by a friend in one of the pictures below) and I was able to steal the couple away during the reception for some sunset photos. I also loved the paper lanterns that they lit and released at the end of the reception, a really beautiful end to such a wonderful day!

Rita and Cirihn – Corson Building Wedding – Seattle, Washington
Rita and Cirihn were married at the Corson Building in Seattle, Washington. It was one of those absolutely gorgeous fall days, and when I arrived at their home to photograph them getting ready, I was treated to a wonderful view of the water and all the beautiful fall trees. I got a chance to meet their pup, Ruby, and to spend some time with them as they got ready (a more calm pair I’ve yet to meet on their wedding day). We arrived at the Corson Building just in time to get a few late afternoon photos with that beautiful fall sun, and surrounded by the gardens of the venue (I also got a chance to peek in the kitchen and see all of the wonderful food getting prepared). As the day faded, the guests arrived and gathered for the ceremony, after that everyone was treated to a course after course of delicious food prepared by the chefs on site, topped off with a pear and quince pastry.  It was a wonderfully intimate celebration that allowed Rita and Cirihn to spend time visiting with all of their guests, and the night was full of warm conversation, laughter, and lots of happy tears.
Andrea and Jeff – Multnomah Athletic Club Reception
Andrea and Jeff were married this summer in beautiful St. Thomas, I got to photograph their stateside reception this past weekend at the Multnomah Athletic Club. Since the couple doesn’t live in Portland, I didn’t get a chance to meet them until the day of, but they could not have been more friendly and welcoming to my constant presence as they visited with friends and family. Andrea looked absolutely stunning in her lace wedding gown, and the ballroom at the MAC had been decorated in pink and white centerpieces that coordinated with Jeff’s tie and the bridesmaid’s beautiful pink dresses. While guests arrived, Andrea and Jeff spent some time together at MACtinis (a small bar in the club), and then made their grand entrance into the ballroom and walked straight onto the dance floor for their first dance.   The guests were all smiles throughout the night, it was the perfect atmosphere for celebration, and I was very happy to get to be a part of it.
Kelly and Kyle’s Wedding – Jenkins Estate – Beaverton Oregon
Kelly and Kyle were married at the Jenkins Estate in Beaverton on a sunny August Morning. Since I had already had lots of fun getting to know kelly and kyle during their engagement session in Seattle last February, it was exciting for me to get to see them again on their wedding day. The grassy meadow at the Jenkins Estate was an absolutely beautiful spot for their ceremony, and the outdoor porches around the main house made for a great spot for guests to eat and visit. Some of my favorite parts of this wedding included the giant donut they shared in lieu of a cake (and I’m still kicking myself for not grabbing a donut while I was there), and the gorgeous wedding dress kelly picked to wear (look for the tiny polka dot details in the fabric), the wedding party was full of energy and fun, and the groomsmen even had some suggestions of their own for picture poses (you’ll notice one below of them showing off kelly’s strength), I loved that they brought in a few gold fish (as a tribute to the last name that the couple now shares), and the song that Kyle’s sister wrote and sang for them was really touching and beautiful (and left very few dry eyes in the room). I loved the sporty little car they used as their getaway, and the bubbles that guests blew for them as they left the reception! I had a great time spending the day with these two! Below are some of my favorite photos.
Sarah and Michael Marriage Celebration at Blue Sky Gallery, Portland, OR
I was lucky to get to spend the day with Sarah and Michael for the second half of their wedding celebrations. The two actually were married in Sydney, Australia and were in Portland to have another party! They had a blessing service at First United Methodist Church followed by a lovely reception at Blue Sky Photography Gallery in downtown Portland (my first time at Blue Sky for a private event!). Both spaces were perfect for the occasion, filled with light and lots of smiles and laughter from friends and family. Sarah and Michael were just a delight and I was so happy to get to be a part of their day. There were a lot of hand-made details that made the day memorable to me, I really loved the bouquets and flower arrangements, put together by friends with flowers picked up just that morning at the farmer’s market, and the jars of curry powder Sarah put together for guests to take home were made using Michael’s secret family recipe, the cloth that was at the front of the blessing ceremony and on the guest book table was also hand embroidered. It was so wonderful to see this group of friends and family gather together (from all over the country, and all over the world as well) and share in the love and marriage of these two.
