Yvonne and Josh – Overlook House Portland
Yvonne and Josh had a lovely reception at the Overlook House in North Portland. I had never realized what a great location this was for a wedding, plenty of space both outdoor and inside the venue. The reception was held on the back lawn and the weather could not have been better! Yvonne made lots of the decor herself, and the whole reception had a really beautiful and somewhat vintage look to it (see the vintage cake topper as well). There was even a nod to star trek in the candy bags that guests received as gifts. It was a wonderful, really intimate celebration and I was lucky to be there!
Hilary and Michael’s Portland Wedding – Trinity Episcopal and Rontoms
Had a great time photographing the wedding day of Hilary and Michael. The wedding took place at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, and the reception was at Rontoms. Hilary picked a beautiful shade of blue for the bridesmaid’s dresses that really complimented the yellow calla lilies in their flower arrangements. I loved the hand made flowers used to decorate the reception, and the day turned out to be mostly clear skies so the guests were able to make full use of the outdoor patio at rontoms.

Portland Pug Crawl! Oregon Humane Society’s 12th Annual Pug Crawl
A few of our close friends have pugs, and last year when I heard about the pug crawl I was really disappointed that I’d missed it, so this year I made sure to head down and to Mactarnahan’s taproom and bring my camera along.
The Oregon Humane Society holds the pug crawl each year, proceeds go to help the OHS help animals in need.
All of the pugs (and people) looked amazing! The theme this year was Pug Nation, and the Parade of Pugs allowed all the pugs in attendance to show off their interpretations on the theme.
Below are some of my favorite pictures from the event, here is a link to the entire gallery of pictures.
If you see your pug and want a digital copy of the image, send me an email and I’d be happy to send it along. Thanks to everyone who dressed up their pugs and making this such a cute event to photograph!
Sam Newborn Photos – Portland
I had the wonderful experience of spending my birthday this year photographing newborn baby Sam and his family.
Sam’s mom is one of the fabulous ladies from Events by Gather, and I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing some of her events, as well as family portraits with her older daughter Julia last year.
Our newborn photo session was the first time I met baby Sam, and it was such a great surprise to meet him and get to know his sweet personality (and to get to photograph his adorable red hair!).
Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the day.
Davis’ First Birthday Cake Smash – Baby Photos Portland
I had a wonderful time photographing Davis and his family during his first birthday cake smash. Baby cake smashes are always fun because you never know how the little ones are going to react to their first touch and taste of cake. Davis was a little apprehensive at first, but really enjoyed being able to play with his toy cars in the messy cake.
We made sure to get a few portraits of him nice and clean before the smash as well, but once he was in that cake and getting messy he was happy to share with everyone!
Coal and Layla – Pet Photography Portland
I’d forgotten to post last summer about my wonderful afternoon with Coal and Layla. This one was a surprise for one of their owners so I had been waiting to post, and then it just slipped through the cracks.
What sweet dogs!
Stephanie and Matt – Laurelhurst Park Engagement Photos Portland
Steph, Matt and I took advantage of the break from the rain a couple weekends ago and did a quick engagement session in Laurelhurst park and at a few spots nearby. I met the two of them a couple years ago through the Penny Jam (you may even recognize Matt in some of my pictures from earlier Penny Jam shoots), and I always have a great time hanging with them or watching them play music together. I’m very excited for their wedding this summer, it should be really fun to photograph.
Full gallery of pictures is here, some of my favorites from the engagement session are below.
Mark’s Birthday Cake Smash! – Portland Baby Pictures
I was lucky enough to get to spend a day last weekend with Mark and his parents, and one soon-to-be-smashed birthday cake. We did this photo session on Mark’s actual birthday, and he (and all of us watching) had an absolute blast as he completely demolished the cake. At first a bit unsure about what to do with the cake, as soon as he tasted a little and realized he could smash frosting around, he was good to go. In the end, the cake ended up mostly on mark and on the table, and so straight into the bath he went (one of my favorite pictures is the very last one of him in the tub). I would abosolutely love to get to photograph more cake smashes – what a fun time!
Family Portraits at the Pumpkin Patch – Jill, Ian, and Taeya
We all braved the rain last Saturday to head out to Sauvie’s Island and take family portraits at the pumpkin patch and the Corn Maize. Taeya was an especially good sport about being asked to hang out in the rain and mud to get her picture taken. Although we didn’t actually make it all the way through the Corn Maize (we got halfway and then ended up accidentally coming out from the entrance) Taeya and Ian had a lot of fun playing on the huge hay bales, and we all got to take a look at the animals in the barn. There was a kid’s hay bale maze that was a big hit too (it was under cover, so no mud, and the little ones can mostly see over the top). In the end I was really happy with how the pictures turned out, I’d love to do some more pumpkin patch or other creative family portrait sessions soon (maybe christmas tree farm?).
Some of my favorite pictures from the pumpkin patch below, full gallery here.
