Kennedy and Kent – Larch Mountain Maternity Photos – Oregon
We’d originally planned to do maternity photos with Kennedy last Sunday, but on Saturday after looking at the weather report (and seeing massive rain planned) I texted her to see if they’d be up for taking photos right away instead. Lucky for me, she is my neighbor (and also one of my oldest friends) so it wasn’t too crazy for us to all pile in a car last minute. We first headed the Historic Columbia Highway and thought we might take some pictures with the Gorge in the background, but staying close to the edge of cliffs proved to be extremely windy and cold – so we headed up Larch Mountain and found some fun and somewhat sheltered spots for photos. Her baby is due in only a couple short weeks, and Kennedy looks absolutely stunning, she was even willing to climb up a hill (and onto a stump) so we could catch a bit of the coastal range in the background of a few shots. I cannot wait to meet baby Fletcher when he arrives!
Allie and Michael – Anniversary Pictures – Mississippi Street, Portland, Oregon

I met Allie and Michael on Mississippi Street a few weekends ago to take some pictures to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. They have made it a tradition to get their pictures taken once a year near their anniversary, which is a very sweet way to mark the passing of another happy year of marriage.
They brought along their little dog Teddy (who was held by Allie’s mom when he wasn’t in a photo), and we just wandered around the shops and alleyways on Mississippi taking pictures and laughing and generally having a pretty nice little Sunday morning. We stopped in to one of the public gardens for a couple shots, used a cool wooden building and another really beautiful brick wall as backdrops, and even found some shade under a nearby tree for a few of the later shots.
It was really nice to get to stroll around such a cool street before it really started to get busy with people, and Allie and Michael are so easygoing and playful that it made getting great looking shots of them laughing and interacting with each other very easy. I hope I get to continue this tradition with them next year!
Winter Family Photos – Portland, OR
About a month ago, one one of the coldest days of December, I had the chance to photograph the darling Evelyn and her parents. It was so chilly that we only spent a few minutes outside taking pictures at a time, and went inside to warm up in between our mini photo sessions. I think it was worth it though, because we ended up with some really adorable photographs.
2013 Fremont Holiday Fest – Photos with Santa
I had a wonderful time last night photographing lots of kids from the neighborhood as they visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Grand Central Bakery on Fremont. Santa came to visit as part of the annual Fremont Holiday Fest, and I was happy to be asked to run the photos by one of my favorite event planners, Katie Wilgus of Gather Event Planning, who was in charge of getting all the kids signed up for photos and kept everything running smoothly!

I’ve been so excited to start posting some of the family photos I’ve gotten to shoot over the last few months – but I’ve been waiting patiently to give people time to send out holiday cards so I don’t ruin the surprises for their friends and family. I am particularly excited about this set because it is a family that I first photographed a couple years ago when their little girl was only about six months old – and so it was really fun for me to see how she’s grown (and to meet her little brother), and also to see my own photo style change.
We braved the extreme fog that October morning and took some photos at a local park, even though it was a little chilly – the kids were great sports about being out and about – and we even got some great smiles out of each one of them.
I absolutely loved working with them! A few of my favorites are below.
Miles – Baby Portraits – Portland Oregon
I was so excited to get to take pictures of baby Miles with his family last weekend, Miles was sweet and mellow, and took a little nap during our session, but also gave us plenty of awake time to photograph those big brown eyes! Mom and Dad and great danes Blu and Tucker were great sports about hopping in some family photos. I loved the “Made in Oregon” sign that shows up in a few photos (that was Miles’ parents’ idea). Mom and Dad and Grandma were all wonderful helpers keeping Miles happy and helping keep Blu and Tucker occupied with lots of treats (although both pups were very curious about all the photo action).
Sam Newborn Photos – Portland
I had the wonderful experience of spending my birthday this year photographing newborn baby Sam and his family.
Sam’s mom is one of the fabulous ladies from Events by Gather, and I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing some of her events, as well as family portraits with her older daughter Julia last year.
Our newborn photo session was the first time I met baby Sam, and it was such a great surprise to meet him and get to know his sweet personality (and to get to photograph his adorable red hair!).
Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the day.
Family Portraits at the Pumpkin Patch – Jill, Ian, and Taeya
We all braved the rain last Saturday to head out to Sauvie’s Island and take family portraits at the pumpkin patch and the Corn Maize. Taeya was an especially good sport about being asked to hang out in the rain and mud to get her picture taken. Although we didn’t actually make it all the way through the Corn Maize (we got halfway and then ended up accidentally coming out from the entrance) Taeya and Ian had a lot of fun playing on the huge hay bales, and we all got to take a look at the animals in the barn. There was a kid’s hay bale maze that was a big hit too (it was under cover, so no mud, and the little ones can mostly see over the top). In the end I was really happy with how the pictures turned out, I’d love to do some more pumpkin patch or other creative family portrait sessions soon (maybe christmas tree farm?).
Some of my favorite pictures from the pumpkin patch below, full gallery here.
Fremont Fest 2010 – Portland Oregon Photography
I had a great time seeing all of the fun costumes and decorated bikes at the Fremont Fest this year, a really special surprise to me this year was all of the dressed up dogs, who marched happily along with the other parade participants.
Also – parents if you see a picture of your family and want a copy, send me an email and I’ll happily send it your way.
